ELVIS
is very much back in the building
It is not often that TV cameras and crews get much to do near the boards, but, on February 5, they were obviously busy: Elvis Stojko was there!
Humberto looked very comfortable on the ice. He certainly has a long road ahead of him but how this road shaped itself, with Elvis as his coach in Vancouver, will likely always remain a very special milestone !

Elvis is not the kind of guy looking for attention but he commands it. Instantly recognized wherever he goes he becomes a point of focus and his strong personality permeates all around. When he is on site, you will know it! He is not just in the building, he is very much in the building!
Elvis is back! Yes, physically, we can see that! However, did he ever leave? This question is prompted, and I believe answered, by what he has recently revealed in his Web site.
ELVIS THE COACH
Elvis is admired by many, he has, for some time now, conducted martial arts classes at the school of his friend and instructor Glen Doyle. It would, therefore, only seem natural for Elvis to become a coach - however, this latest activity was not deliberate, it happened quite by chance!
<<I am just helping out>> said Elvis in an interview with International Figure Skating Magazine. Indeed he would always want to lend a helping hand, even in the most unglamorous and unexpected ways such, as the interview tells us, fixing the Zamboni!
But Elvis is really coaching Humberto Contreras, a Mexican skater. This came about only a few months ago as he was visiting the Guadalajara rink to teach the child of one of his best friends.
Humberto had no coach, so he asked Elvis if there was a way he could work with him...
Hard training, difficult conditions, but nothing dedication, good will and good humor could not overcome. A few months later, both Humberto and Elvis arrived in Vancouver for the Four Continents championships.
WHERE NEXT?
Well, it appears Elvis has something in mind, but he has not said exactly what! He is on the move, his Web site states: <<wait until you see me now!>>.
The truth is, Elvis never left the building and he never will!
